First Steps

So about a week ago was when I took the first steps toward Women's Ministry. I have to admit, I was pretty scared about it. I can be very shy at times, but once I'm comfortable with a situation, then I am more outgoing. I met with my mentor on campus last week and finally put myself out there to volunteer to become more involved in the women's ministry on campus. I even took it a step further to volunteer to even speak at one of the events. :/

The thing is, God has really been preparing me for women's ministry for the past couple of years. It all started by working at a bank. You may ask, "A bank"??? Yes, a bank. About two years ago I applied for a training position in the bank that I was working at. The main requirement... speaking in front of people. I mean that's the job, training all bank employees on various topics. From the President, down to the Tellers and back office employees. While interviewing for the position, I was completely honest in saying that my biggest fear was speaking in front of people. But still, for some reason I was never more sure that God wanted me in that position. I had no idea what God would reveal to me. During my two and a half years journey as a trainer, God did amazing things in my life. He revealed to me the gift that I have in designing programs, literally having a small thought or idea and transforming that into a full blown training. He also gave me a wonderful supervisor who pushed me out of my comfort zone, and was more like a mentor to me instead of a supervisor. She taught me so much - I think more than she will ever know. I quickly got over my fear of speaking in front of people.

Towards the end of my journey with the bank, as we were moving to Pineville, I couldn't help but wonder and often daydream about how cool it would be to take what God taught me and gave me through that Training position and use it for His kingdom and for the ministry. I already have so many ideas that I can't wait to begin transforming into Bible studies and programs for the ministry. I'm just waiting for a door to open.

Some doors have already opened for me. For instance, a friend from the bank that I worked at contacted me about two weeks ago, before I had really announced my calling to women's ministry. She is putting together a small women's group and she wants my help in thinking of topics and studies that she could use for her group! This really excited me and helped me to begin thinking of some really cool ideas!

I hope to begin posting some of my ideas soon, once I have them all together.

Until next time...

"Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love he predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will— to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves. In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace that he lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding."
